THE PROJECT

Geteilte Welten is an audiowalk, a sonic intervention into Berlin Tiergarten’s memory landscapes and an artistic research project by Miriam Schickler.

In German the word “geteilt” means both divided and shared. Geteilte Welten are thus worlds that are simultaneously shared and divided; notwithstanding their segregation through disciplinary categorisation, codification and fragmentation which maintain systemic domination, these worlds continue to intersect with each other.

Miriam asked me to help create a branded responsive-website that would make it easy for people to navigate the audio walk on their phones, in English or German language. The site features instructions about how to take the walk, along with the audio and notes for further study. I created a matching bilingual sticker to promote the walk, with a QR code directing viewers to the site

I worked with the existing branding to create a simple and user-friendly dual-language website. This project was pretty straight-forward, as Miriam had all the content prepared already. A custom map was added, along with the audio guide for the walk. On the sticker, the title “Geteilte Welten” was purposefully split up, to reference the meaning of the word.

“Amazing! Thank you so much!”
